LA VERDAD INUTIL / THE USELESS TRUTHISBN: 978-950-889-153-2 |

The Useless Truth is an oxymoron that leads to a conception of photography as a theoretical model. It refers to the complex relationship between artistic and political praxis. In more than one sense res’s work articulates both such practices, leaving behind traditional notions of political art. Art can reveal the erroneous nature of truth. Yet this quality is useless because it remains locked away in the autonomous field of art, unless, that is, we conceive of photography as a model of thought - and of thought as political action.
The artist known as “res”, Raul Stolkiner has developed a vast oeuvre that deals imaginatively with a variety of subjects and spans a wide range of technical and formal approaches. The coherence of the series of wich his work is made up should be sought in the motivation that underlines them.
Photography in res’s work is not so much a means of constructing images as the images are of deconstructing the language of photography.
This is the first volume to provide anthology of the work of res: it gathers together nine series of photographs, introduced by short texts containing certain keys for their interpretation.
